The new fabric!

...As I was telling you before, January is my supply-gathering season. I'm relieved we're reaching the end of it!

During this last twenty-something days, I bought fabric in France and Ireland, gemstones and findings in Italy and England...I even ordered silver chain from China, because it seems some stuff is so "retro", they don't sell it any longer here!

I know, it's geographically shocking. That's the reason why I call it "gathering season", rather than "tea party"!

Shopping for supplies when you're not a merchant is quite tricky, because you don't have access to the wholesale market, and you need to make the best out of what is at hand.

Anyway, merchant or amateur, the tough part of the deal is probably the same: figuring out what you're going to do, and need; making choices; accepting the possibility you're doing it all wrong!

Before purchasing, you must have planned also downsides and countermeasures, so that if (when?) things get a different direction, you're not going to waste your material.

...In fact, this never works out!

At the moment, my brain is trying to retain ideas, how-to(s), and utterly imagined products including all the possible variations. Scary, and quite blurry! I think I'm going blue screen in 5, 4, 3...

Well, at least I'm still enthusiast. And you?! How do you deal with all that?! Any suggestion to keep it simple?!

Have a nice week,

The new gems are here!

The new gemstones have arrived, and I'm enthusiast! They are way more beautiful than I expected!

This is just the first round of the new year's gathering. Now I have to double check the inventory (...yeah, the big box!), which is THE painful task, as it generally implies counting headpins, retrieving apparently-lost-forever clasps, staring at hundreds of little bags, and of course dismounting horribly-gone-wrong jewellery.

And that's the reason why...I'm postponing. After that, it will be time for the seasonal fabric-hunting, which is fun, for it is shopping! The only sad part is that it often ends in tears, looking at the price tags...

I know, a home based business is full of perils, and has its dark moments. Like the queue at the Post Office. So, knowing the true hard times are yet to come, let's celebrate this volatile first success!

Have a nice week end,

Bye Bye Holidays!

With today, I guess we're all back from the holidays! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and everything after!

These days I'm collecting new beads and fabrics. I have a few ideas I had  to leave behind, and I can't wait to start creating again.

I'm taking very seriously the Italian motto "anno nuovo, vita nuova" (new year, new life). I'm moving to a new place, where I'm going to have a dedicated room for all sorts of crafty activities.

There are many things to do, the entire house needs works here and there, and possibly the craft room will be the last to be ready, hopefully in a month or so!

Now your turn: any new year's resolution to confess?!

Have a nice day!
